Another piece of concept art for my original story, 'Swing Time!' This could also be considered a sort of follow-on from this pic: [link]
Here's my main character, Viv, again; this time she's accompanied by her laddy-love, Thomas. I have a habit of giving away my characters' romantic entanglements before I've even begun to tell their full stories
Thommy has his own backstory, which I'm still busily creating. He's half-American half-English, grew up on his uncle's ranch, and is extremely short-sighted without his glasses. He goes to see Liv & Viv's show numerous times, becoming the latter's biggest fan; he figured out the secret behind their act almost from the beginning. He has a secret past which I won't detail here, but suffice to say he is far more accomplished than his clumsy, bashful persona would lead one to believe. He proves to be Viv's perfect match - he's a very sweet, considerate guy
I've never drawn him before, so I was trying to get his design right. I was looking at a photo of W. B. Yeats for the sake of the pince nez, and Thom consequently ended up resembling him more than I intended.
I am putting off drawing this story (it would have to be a sequential comic for the storyline to work) because I just don't understand the costumes of the time period. The dress was completely made up, I'm not sure if it's any way appropriate at all, and that suit was really hard to draw! >___<
This was yet another one that started as a rough sketch, then got some basic shading in Photoshop. For some reason, the gradients look really grainy on my screen - hope it's just my monitor, but I suspect it's not :/
Viv, Thomas & Swing Time! belong to me, no stealage More Swing Time! stuff: [link][link][link]
